Here's how to get your theatre fix while waiting for the #returntolive.
While theatre fans wait for the much-anticipated #returntolive, we’ve put together a round-up of some of the best world-class theatre now streaming online. Featuring opera, musicals, dramas and circus, from Shakespeare to Disney, there’s something for everyone. And they can all be enjoyed right now from the comfort of your own home!
Lincoln Centre At Home
Based in New York City, the world-renowned Lincoln Centre is hosting a number of performances on their YouTube channel. With new content being added all the time, there’s also concerts for kids and pop-up classrooms to keep the children entertained!
Disney Cruise Line’s Tangled: The Musical
Featuring the original cast from the on-board production, Disney Cruises have revealed a full stage version of Tangled: The Musical on YouTube. Following the tale of Rapunzel, with Elisha Ainsley in the main role, the 2015 production features three new songs not featured in the 2010 Academy Award nominated film, written by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater.
The Old Vic
The Old Vic have continued to share free content with the public since temporarily closing their doors in 2020, via their Your Old Vic programme. As well as full length productions, you can view behind the scenes interviews and exclusives, curated content seasons and workshops.
The Royal Opera House
With their #OurHouseToYourHouse programme, the Royal Opera House have been sharing a wealth of content. Watch full length productions, go behind the scenes with cast and creatives, plus check out highlights of some of the world’s best loved operas and ballets. Into the Woods
Originally performed at the Open Air Theatre in London’s Regents Park, this award-winning production stars Hannah Waddingham, Michael Xavier and Jenna Russell. Directed by Timothy Sheader, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Into the Woods takes the fairytales of the Brothers Gimm and gives them a new, darker twist.

The Crucible
Another offering from London’s Old Vic, The Crucible is based on the story of the Salem witch trials. Written by Arthur Miller and starring Richard Armitage, this full length production was originally staged to much acclaim in 2014, and can now be rented and watched in full online.
Cirque Du Soleil
Cirque Du Soleil’s online content hub includes everything from opportunities to indulge in the company’s celebrated music, to behind the curtain episodes. There’s also DIY guides for kids and adults alike, including face paining, fitness and dance. Plus, there’s a number of Cirque Du Soleil specials, featuring footage from live performances.
Shakesepare’s Globe
One of the world’s most iconic playhouse, Shakespeare’s Globe is streaming from their archives of world-class productions. Check out their website for a season full of Shakespeare including The Two Noble Kinsmen, Hamlet and Midsummer Night’s Dream. There’s also a number of YouTube premieres.
